Pheasant Valley Farm is committed to maintaining Pennsylvania’s outdoor heritage, wildlife conservation, and hunting traditions. We believe in order to maintain this valued way of life, today’s women must be allowed the opportunity to gain hunting experience and learn about Pennsylvania’s rich hunting heritage. With that goal in mind, Pheasant Valley Farm in conjunction with the PA Game Commission and other conservation oriented folks would like to offer twenty women the opportunity to participate in a non-profit women’s hunt on Friday, October 12, 2018 at our preserve in Robesonia, PA which is located west of Reading.
The day will begin with check in at 8:45 am, followed by a safety lesson over coffee and muffins at 9:00. At 9:30, the participants will practice their shooting skills by shooting clay targets. The field hunts will begin at 10:30. There will be five groups of four hunters. Each group will have their own guide and dog, to locate and retrieve the birds, and a mentor to help facilitate the hunt. At 1:00, the groups will meet for lunch provided and prepared by PVF proprietor Mark Wolfskill. Following lunch and reflections, participants will have the opportunity to go back out into the field to hunt and/or to learn how to clean their birds. The day ends between 3-5pm.
All participants must be over 18 years old and present a Hunter/Trapper Education Course Card or a current PA. Hunting License at check-in. Registration can be completed online at www.pgc.state.pa.gov, click on “Information & Resources”, then click on “Get Involved”, then click on “Special Hunts” then click on “Special Hunts Calendar” to go to an outside and click on the Women’s Hunt for 10/12 or by contacting Karen Shannon at 215-896-1728 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Upon receipt of complete registration including payment and forms, participants will receive a confirmation email.
Twenty participants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Fee for participation is $20 and must be submitted by 10/7/2018 to reserve your space. Checks may be written out to Pheasant Valley Farm and be mailed to Pheasant Valley Farm, 104 Stricker Road, Robesonia, PA 19551. If registering online please download the waiver and medical form, complete and submit along with the check. If registering by mail or email, these forms will be sent to you. Participants from previous years will not be allowed to attend, but will be invited to attend a reunion hunt at a date TBD if there is enough interest.
We appreciate the continued support of Cabela's, the PA Game Commission, Lehigh Valley SCI, our volunteers and our customers for this event.
This is a women only event and men are not allowed to participate or stay for the day.
Ladies! Please join us in the field for a great day of hunting pheasants!
In these small group sessions we start by throwing bumpers to make sure the dogs will swim in our pond. Then we will introduce the dog to retrieving ducks from the water and get them excited about water retrieving in a variety of scenarios. Finally we will simulate a duck hunt with a call & blank gun and have the dog retrieve the “downed” duck. We will have a session for Novice dogs @ 9:00 AM on Sat. Aug. 18. For dogs that have already participated in this event we will offer an advanced session on Sat. Aug. 18 @ 1:00 PM. This session will include multiple and blind retrieves. The cost for a duck session will be $80 this includes the cost of the ducks. The dog must already be able to competently swim and should have heard gunfire. If you need help encouraging your dog to swim contact us to schedule an introductory swimming lesson. Email Karen@pheasantvalleyfarm.com to sign up for a duck or swim session. Class sizes are limited.
These small group sessions are for dogs that have trained with us. If you have not trained your dog with us you can contact Karen to do an individual duck session.

Kick-Off Chukar Hunts
To kick off the season we are having two hunting/social events on Sat. Sept. 8 and Sat. Sept. 15. The event on the 8th is only for our training customers, meaning only customers with dogs that were trained with us. The event on the 15th is open to everyone and guides will be available for hunts. There will be four different hunting areas with six different start times. Hunts will last approximately 1.5 hours with the first hunt starting at 7 AM. We will try to accommodate specific start times if possible. We would like 2-4 hunters per hunt with a minimum of 3 chukars per hunter stocked. There will also be pheasants on hand at $20 a piece. Adding hen pheasant or two is a great way to introduce your dog to pheasants. As always we will not combine groups. The intent is to do smaller, shorter hunts with the possibility of hunting multiple times throughout the day with breaks in between hunts. A complimentary lunch will be available from 10-3. All hunts will be billed at $14 a chukar. We will have plenty of chukars on hand so that hunts can be modified due to weather conditions and dog & hunter stamina. Our goal is to have a low pressure, fun event for everyone. All scheduling will be done through Mark’s email: email@example.com. Start times will be 7:00, 8:30, 10:00, 11:30, 1:00 and 2:30. To schedule select a start time and include the number of hunters. Last year this event filled so don’t wait to register.
