Ladies join us for our 15th Annual Women's Pheasant Hunt
on Thursday, October 10, 2024

Pheasant Valley Farm is committed to maintaining Pennsylvania’s outdoor heritage, wildlife conservation, and hunting traditions. We believe in order to maintain this valued way of life, today’s women must be allowed the opportunity to gain hunting experience and learn about Pennsylvania’s rich hunting heritage. With that goal in mind, Pheasant Valley Farm in conjunction with the PA Game Commission and other conservation oriented folks would like to offer twenty women the opportunity to participate in a non-profit women’s hunt on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at our preserve in Robesonia, PA which is located west of Reading.

The day will begin with check in at 8:30 am, followed by a safety lesson over coffee and muffins at 9:00. At 9:30, the participants will practice their shooting skills by shooting clay targets. Shotguns will be provided by the PGC for those that do not have one. The field hunts will begin at 10:30. There will be five groups of four hunters. Each group will have their own female guide and dog, to locate and retrieve the birds, and a mentor to help facilitate the hunt. At 1:00, the groups will meet for lunch provided and prepared by PVF proprietor Mark Wolfskill. Following lunch and reflections, participants will have the opportunity to go back out into the field to hunt and/or to learn how to clean their birds. The day ends between 3-5pm.

All participants must be over 18 years old and present a Hunter/Trapper Education Course Card or a current PA. Hunting License at check-in. Registration can be completed online at www.pgc.pa.gov,  click on “Information &  Resources”, then click on “Get Involved”, then click on “Special Hunts” then click on “Special Hunts Calendar” to go to an outside site and click on the Women’s Hunt for 10/10 or by contacting Karen Shannon at 215-896-1728 or karen@pheasantvalleyfarm.com. Upon receipt of complete registration including payment and forms, participants will receive a confirmation email.

Twenty participants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Fee for participation is $50 and must be submitted by 10/1/2024 to reserve your space. Checks may be written out to Pheasant Valley Farm and be mailed to Pheasant Valley Farm, 104 Stricker Road, Robesonia, PA 19551. If registering online please download the waiver and medical form, complete and submit along with the check. If registering by mail or email, these forms will be sent to you. Participants from previous years will not be allowed to attend, but will be invited to attend a reunion hunt at a date TBD if there is enough interest.

We appreciate the continued support of the PA Game Commission, Lehigh Valley SCI, our volunteers and our customers for this event.

This is a women only event and men are not allowed to participate or stay for the day.

Ladies! Please join us in the field for a great day of hunting pheasants!

Second Duck Retriever Training July 27 & 28, 2024

In these small group sessions we start by throwing bumpers to make sure the dogs will swim in our pond. Then we will introduce the dog to retrieving ducks from the water and get them excited about water retrieving in a variety of scenarios. Finally we will simulate a duck hunt with a call, decoys & blank gun and have the dog retrieve the “downed” duck.
The Novice classes are full.  For dogs that have already participated in this event we will offer advanced sessions on Saturday 7/27 @ 1:00 – 4:00 PM and Sunday 7/28 @ 1:00 – 4:00 PM. The advance session will include multiple retrieves, blind retrieves and the opportunity to practice your own retrieve sequences.

The cost for a duck session will be $120 this includes the cost of the ducks. The dog must already be able to competently swim and should have heard gunfire. These sessions are only for training customers. If you need help encouraging your dog to swim contact us to schedule an introductory swimming lesson. If you are interested in duck retrieving but have not trained with us we may be able to arrange and individual session.

Email Karen@pheasantvalleyfarm.com to sign up for a duck or swim session.
